It's been a while. I've been tied up with commercials and the like, mostly Digicel stuff, and recently had to do a reshoot for the Fruta ad. They just wanted a Trinidadian version of the advert.
I also decided to enter the Radiohead animation competition...just for the hell of it. I'm not really into competitions and the like...festivals sure. There is the chance of winning $10,000 US dollars...that would be cool, but mostly I just want to do it for fun.
It's been really insane...The competition is divided into three segments...a storyboard segment, a one minute animation segment and then the finals. The 10 semifinalists were selected about two weeks back and since then on the aniboom forum, it's been chaos.
The problem is that the semifinalists all had basically finished animations and only two had actual storyboards. Also, three of the semifinalists had recut previous work that they had and edited it to one of the Radiohead songs. War ensued...people bitched and whined.
I guess people never read the fine print...If ya had finished animation you could enter it. The way I see it, it wouldn't have mattered who won, people would be googling their names to find something that would make their position seem unfair.
Anyways enuff of dat. Even though the 10 semifinalists have been selected, there is still the chance of winning one of three golden tickets by entering a one minute completed version of your storyboard. Out of the thirteen one minute clips chosen, five will be picked by radiohead and the one winner will be chosen from that.
For what it's worth I entered a one minute animation. Heck, I may as well try....who knows....You can see my animation here:
