This was the first video that allowed me to think outside of the box that defined what a Jamaican-produced music video was supposed to look like. I wanted something that would make the viewer not only watch, but think about the images they saw. I wanted stuff that was subliminal and symbolic, images that jarred the mind and twisted the viewer from the norm. I did this to one of my songs, because I am not sure that any artist would be willing to go this extreme. I could be wrong.
This was shot with a Panasonic PV GS300 camcorder and color treated to black and white. I like the stark contrast of the black and white, and the way the shadows and the light play tricks on the mind without color to differentiate objects. My brother helped with some of the shots. I had no professional lights...only natural light and a single room-lamp. Watch and enjoy.

This was my first video...I was feeling brave about going in front of the camera so I took a whack at it. I wanted to get the feeling of a jaded fairytale...so I went with the white frock and the windswept seaside look Looking back at it now I see where I could have done a lot better but i keep it for posterity to always remind me where I'm coming from. My brother Daniel and his friend Shauna were on "set" to help out for this project. My friend Sean provided sound playback from his car...
. Shauna was the on set makeup assistant...and Daniel was my Cameraman / Director of Photography. We used a battery operated flourescent light and a brighter incandescent light for lighting.
Again...Little Panasonic PV GS300 was onset. This was actually the first video i shot with the little camera. I wanted this video as proof that the little camera was almost as good as the larger Panasonic 100 series. If you do a frame rate conversion in Edius and put the footage from both cameras side by side....you can barely tell the difference.
It goes to show that having a big camera does not necessarily mean a good video. A great camera in the hands of a person who don't know squat, will still make a video look like piles of doggy poo. At the end of the day the person behind the camera...no matter what kind of camera, makes all the difference. Enjoy

This was my first official Directing Job. It was a medley shot in one day...well most of it was shot on one day anyways. It included...Derajah, Carl Dawkins, Johnny Builder, Holloway, Israel voice, Akwa Mbokka, Tear and Sugar Minott. Nuff people on one riddim...wooh. Medleys are hard especially if ya got one day and one location...the trick is to make it look like ya shot them all in different places. It was Shot in the now "Sketeled-out" Location known as fort Rocky. They wanted a vintage feel for this video, seeing as the rhythm really did pull from the gool ole vintage flavour. They liked the Sepia tone thing, so I tried to stick to that. I figured doing the entire video in the same sepia tone would be boring...so I gave each artiste their own unique color treatment. I pulled my inspiration from old 70's artwork, posters and album covers, old movies etc. Derajah's part was especially interesting. I wanted his section to look like a moving poster.
Tear and Sugar Minott had to be shot an a seperate day, because they couldn't make to first day shoot. (Another problem with filming medleys....not everyone can make it on the same day) Tear and Sugar had their thing on a different rhythm so I pulled for my signature twisted black and white...leaving the glowing red from Sugar's robe.
Berger was my D.P., David rogers was my grip for the day...again my brother was on set as backup camera, Wormy and Bobby also pitched in...thanks guys, couldn't have done it without you!!!
Enjoy!
